Stuart F. Williams

Stu's practice focuses on the area of civil appellate litigation in both the federal and state appellate courts, including appeals involving family law, bankruptcy, contract law, property law, election law, habeas corpus, extraordinary writs and general commercial law. He also practices in the area of general civil trial litigation, with a focus on trial level support services.

Stu is currently Chair of the Appellate Law Section of The Jacksonville Bar Association, Chair of the First District Court of Appeal Pro-Bono Subcommittee to the Florida Bar Appellate Practice Section, and is a Barrister member of the First District Court of Appeal, Appellate Inn of Court.

Stu has been named to the 2010 Florida Super Lawyers' list of Rising Stars. The award honors those deemed by the magazine as the best lawyers under the age of 40, or have been practicing for less than 10 years, determined by a rigorous selection process. According to Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in any one state are named to the list.

Prior to entering private practice, Stu clerked for the Honorable Ed Carnes, Circuit Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

While earning his law degree, Stu served as an Externship Clerk for the Honorable Robert L. Hinkle, District Judge, United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida, and worked as a Graduate Fellow in the United States Central Intelligence Agency, Office of General Counsel Honors Program.

Before entering the practice of law, Stu worked as the program coordinator for a five county public healthcare services program funded through the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and the State of Florida Department of Health. He also served in the U.S. Army overseas in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm during the first Gulf War.
